Frequently Asked Questions:

What is this?
A public art program to illustrate the power of
one.  Create anything of your choosing on a 1’x1’ square.
Squares will be collected and displayed in several public art
displays in Bay County to illustrate the power of One.

How do I get a square?  Pick up a square at CityArts during
open hours any Wednesday to Sunday from 1 to 6 or during
Community Pillars on Thursday evenings from 6 to 8.*

What can I use to do my square? Use any media. Illustrate
the theme or do your own thing. Collages, assemblages, and
3D applications are acceptable as long as they do not make the
square bigger than 1’ and do not protrude more than 2 inches
on the front. You can attach photographs, watercolor paper,
drawing paper, fabric, and canvas to your square or do your art
right on the wood.

What do I do when my square is done? Return your
completed square to CityArts within 30 days.*

Then what? Your completed square is donated to the
Community Pillars program and will be displayed with other One
by One squares in public art displays at select venues in Bay
County.  Squares will be available for purchase.  All funds
collected- from donations, purchase of squares, or auction
proceeds- are donated to
Community Pillars Program.

Who runs this?  One by One is organized by Community
Pillars, an outreach art program of Chautauqua Learn & Serve
Charter School at CityArts.
Community Pillars is funded by the
Best Neighborhood Grant and the New Freedom Grant.

What if I need help completing my square?  You can work
on your square any Thursday at
Artists in Action  or during
Community Pillars.  Several art workshops will be scheduled at
CityArts and other venues for those wanting formal art
instruction. There is a fee to attend the workshops, all materials
are provided. Workshops are $25 person, 2.5 hours.  At the
workshop, you will complete 2 squares: 1 to keep and 1 to
donate. Workshop dates TBA.  Contact
Heather Parker to
